If you ask most photographers in off-road desert racing how they got started, many will tell you the same thing: they dreamed of racing, but couldn’t afford it. The next best thing? Capturing it through the lens. That’s how Art Eugenio Jr.—better known as Get Some Photo—built his storied 25-year career shooting desert racing in Baja and the U.S.

While he spent decades on the sidelines capturing victories, defeats, and everything in between, Art never let go of his dream to race. Now, that dream is becoming reality. In 2025, he’ll line up at the start of the NORRA Mexican 1000 behind the wheel of his freshly built 1994 Ford Bronco, racing in the Prerunner class.

Art originally bought the Bronco from ESPN broadcaster Bob Bower over a decade ago. It started with a simple Rancho lift kit and served as his daily driver and vehicle to go scout photo locations for races in Baja. Over the years, it evolved—getting upgrades after every trip, little by little.

The idea to race it goes back to 2012, when Art chased the NORRA Mexican 1000 with a friend and brought along his dad, a former Class 5 racer. That trip sparked a plan to build the Bronco and race Baja together. Sadly, Art’s father passed away in 2014 before they could make it happen. Now, over a decade later, the Bronco is finally finished—his dad’s name is proudly displayed on the door with his ashes on the dash. It’s more than a race truck—it’s a tribute.

If you’re a Bronco nerd, you’ll notice the front clip is from an earlier model. That’s intentional. After the truck was damaged in a shop accident, Art chose to “backdate” it with a 1990-style brick nose and slant hood. It not only improves visibility but also nods to the Class 8 trucks of the ’80s and ’90s.

Underneath, the Bronco runs a stock-width long-travel Twin Traction Beam setup from Desolate Motorsports with King 3.0 internal bypass shocks and a custom swing set steering system. Out back, it’s equipped with custom leaf springs, King 3.0 triple bypasses, and a Desolate sway bar. A fun detail is a mudflap that is hose clamped on the shock to protect the shock shafts from getting pitted from rocks, just another clever way to improvise in Baja.

Lighting is handled by two Baja Designs LP9 Pros and a 20″ OnX6+ light bar in amber up front—more than enough to keep things lit in the dust and fog. As Art puts it: “If you need more light than this, you’re probably driving too fast at night.” Out back is one of the wildest and most ridiculous chase lights we’ve seen—a 40″ OnX6 dual-control bar in amber and white. It’s fully integrated with his sPOD BantamX system, allowing Art to dim or strobe the rear lights for visibility in thick dust—just in case a Trophy Truck is barreling down behind him after having a slow early start trying to make up time.

The Bronco sits on Raceline Ryno Beadlock wheels wrapped in 35-inch BF Goodrich KDR3 + tires that were developed for Rally Raid and Dakar. I’d be willing to bet these tires have never been mounted up to a 1994 Ford Bronco before but can usually be seen on cars like the 2025 Ford Raptor T1+. Either way, they look awesome.

The interior is just as dialed. A Solo Motorsports roll cage was the foundation, later integrated into the chassis to meet NORRA’s safety standards. Inside are three PRP Podium seats, PRP harnesses, a PRP steering wheel, and essential communications. Storage for spare parts, spare tire GPS system, and everything you would typically see in a race car.

Art’s journey from photographer to racer is a reminder that there’s more than one way to be part of off-road racing. After years on the sidelines, he’s finally getting the chance to live out a dream he’s carried for decades. With the Bronco built and his dad’s name on the door, he’s heading to Baja not just to shoot the action—but to be part of it in his own Bronco racing his own race.

The 2025 Mexican NORRA Mexican 1000 starts in Ensenada on April 26 in Ensenada with 6 days of racing ending in San José del Cabo with a combined race course of over 1300 miles.

If you ride dual-sport, enduro, or anything that keeps you in 1st through 3rd gear, you already know how critical good lighting is. That’s exactly why we developed the new Baja Designs S1 Trail Lens.

This isn’t just a new lens pattern designed specifically for the S1 light. It’s a targeted solution for riders who ride slower, more technical trails  — giving you light exactly right where you need it – optimizing a light beam pattern with both vertical and horizontal light spread.

Let’s break down what it does, and why it might be worth upgrading your current S1 setup.

Why the S1?

The Baja Designs S1 is our smallest light pod, but don’t let its size fool you. It puts out 2,320 raw lumens using just 20 watts, making it incredibly efficient for how much light it throws.

We’ve always designed the S1 to be versatile — it works great as a driving light, ditch light, chase light, or even mounted to racks or bumpers. And with multiple lens patterns thanks to our ClearView™ technology like Spot, Wide Cornering, and Work Scene, it covers a lot of ground.

But for the rider who spends most of their time on tight trails or navigating steep climbs and switchbacks — we knew we could do better. With countless miles on the trail and with the ever-expanding moto-specific lighting solutions with the S1.

Introducing the Trail Lens

The S1 Trail Lens is a brand-new beam pattern designed with enduro and technical trail riding in mind. Think: 1st through 2nd gear trail riding, rocky switchbacks, tree cover, elevation changes — the places where your standard beam might fall short because of the lack of a vertical spread.

This lens expands on our ClearView™ technology by combining vertical and horizontal spread into a single pattern. This gives you more light not just in front of the bike but also into dips, valleys, and around corners—exactly where your eyes (and your front tire) need to go next.

How It’s Different

If you’re already running a Wide Cornering lens, you might be wondering what sets the Trail Lens apart. The biggest difference? Vertical spread. Wide Cornering throws a nice beam side-to-side, but it’s fairly flat. When you’re leaning into a corner or cresting a ridge, you can lose some of that light where you actually need it — down low and up ahead. The Trail Lens fixes that with a taller beam, helping you see more of the trail at crucial angles.

Clear vs. Baja Amber — Which Should You Choose?

Just like our other S1 options, the Trail Lens Kit is available in both Clear and Baja Amber. This offers uService to current S1 users the ability to switch out their lens and experience the difference.
  • Clear: Maximum brightness and distance.
  • Baja Amber: Slightly reduced output (approximately ~15%), but improved visibility in dust, fog, and low-contrast environments.

S1 Trail Lens

We developed the Trail Lens because we ride the same trails you do — and we know how frustrating it is when your light doesn’t hit where it should. Through testing, trail riding, and real-world rider feedback, we engineered a solution that gives you more usable light exactly where you need it.

If you already have an S1 on your bike, this is a no-brainer upgrade for technical terrain. If you’re new to the S1 altogether, now’s a great time to see what this compact powerhouse can really do — especially with a beam pattern designed specifically for Moto.

When it comes to all out fun and adventure, Tyler Enyedi from Ridgefield, WA took a brand-new Can-Am Maverick X3 straight from the showroom to Magnum offroad in Vista, CA and told them to give his new toy the works.  No expense was spared, as Tyler’s Maverick X3 was transformed into a trail monster. Let’s take a closer look and see just what makes @the_loam_woodsman Can-Am a beast on the trail.

Magnum Offroad took eight months to transform the stock Maverick X3 into this piece of art. Outfitting this vehicle with the best from the industry such as Fifty6 boxed trailing arms producing 24 inches of travel, ZRP billet uprights, hubs, and trailing arm braces. Magnum offroad also added their custom radius rod plate. Fox Factory 3” rear shocks with SDG full valve tune package wrapped in Eibach dual rate coils keep the rear of this X3 planted in the whoops. Method Bead Lock rims are wrapped in 35″ Tensor DSR tires providing max traction on the trails.

Tyler went for the more reliable approach when building his motor, with a tune from Treal Performance and a custom Magnaflow exhaust system that keeps this machine moving forward.

Off-road Can-Am Maverick X3 with powerful Baja Designs lighting setup, illuminating a rugged urban environment with bright yellow and white lights. The vehicle is positioned under a concrete structure with graffiti in the background, highlighting its aggressive and adventurous design.
Rear view of a fully customized Can-Am Maverick X3 equipped with Baja Designs off-road LED lighting, mounted RTL rear tail light, and race-ready accessories. This high-performance UTV setup features rugged suspension, spare tire storage, and fire extinguishers, ideal for extreme off-road racing and overland adventures
Close-up of a Baja Designs off-road lighting setup on a Can-Am Maverick X3, featuring three yellow-lens LED lights mounted on a rugged MLO front bumper. This high-performance UTV lighting system enhances visibility for extreme off-road adventures and racing conditions.

The Baja Designs lighting package that Tyler chose allows him unparalleled visibility during nighttime and lo-light conditions. Up front on the bumper are three XL80s with baja amber rock guards, Squadron Sports on the A-pillar, 7 XL Sports aligned on the roof rack each with clear rock guards for protection, red rock lights are on all four corners along with a set of dome lights in the cab. An RTL light bar is fitted out back as a chase light.

The cabin has also been given the gold star treatment with a carbon fiber dash, a 7-inch Motec display, Lowrance and Garmin GPS units for navigation, PCI radios for communication between driver and passengers. Tyler looked to PRP for creature comforts and safety, as he installed a PRP steering wheel with PTT and PRP seats and 5-pt belts keep both the driver and passengers safe while bashing the trails.

You can see Tyler hitting the dirt at UTV takeovers. As he explains, “One of the best trips of the year is UTV Takeover. All locations this event is held are epic. from the participants, the positive energy and stoke level around the UTV market makes these events some of the most fun”

While UTV takeovers are where the stoke level is high, his go-to spot in the PNW is Coos Bay. “From easy camping to dune rides to the ocean, you simply can’t beat it up here in the PNW”, explains Tyler.

Ready to Conquer Any Challenge

Tyler Enyedi’s 2021 Can-Am Maverick X3 RR Max exemplifies a harmonious blend of performance, safety, and aesthetics. The integration of Baja Designs’ top-tier lighting solutions, combined with strategic performance upgrades, transforms this UTV into a formidable machine, ready to conquer any off-road challenge.

What’s it take to win the Baja 1000? Among many other things, a dialed lighting package is essential to take on the most grueling desert racing on the planet.

One thing we are extremely proud of at Baja Designs is that the lighting solutions we offer to you are the same exact ones that are used by Baja Champions, but buying our lights is only the first step in building out a lighting package to win in Baja.

Building out a lighting package for race applications is not just about “more”, you need to understand what each light is designed for and where the light needs to land in your field of view. This is why we’ve created Lighting Zones and Effective Lighting Score to help enthusiasts and racers alike understand the Science of building out a lighting solution for any application.

Once you understand the Science, your preference is the final deciding factor in your Lighting Package. Working with the Vildosola Racing team, of Tavo Vildosola and Jason McNeil, this is the lighting package we built out for their Trophy Truck to take on the 2024 Baja 1000.

The front grill is a 50” OnX6+, 4 XL80s and 6 XL Racers, illuminating (Zones 3, 4, 5)

For dust, the only amber on the truck is the XL80 with Wide Cornering lens and XL Pro with Combo lens in each headlight location (Zones 2 and 3)

On the A-pillar, for effective ditch lighting, XL Pros with Wide Cornering lenses (Zone 2)

On the roof, their main distance lighting is 12 XL Racers on an light actuator (Zone 5)

For marker lights, so their pit crews can identify them, they’re utilizing 2 S2 Sports and 1 S2 Pro with Green, Clear, and Red lenses
